Mimico & Willowbrook

About The Project

A topographic survey was carried out in Metrolinx’s Mimico & Willowbrook Yards (Toronto) to facilitate the design of several new snow clearing devices.  Survey limits included the nearest adjacent tracks in the yards as well as the Oakville subdivision mainline, and were focused near the west side of the yards at Kipling Avenue.

All work was completed with flagging protection, either provided for the yard or mainline.  Personnel from Metrolinx were on site with the surveyor to supervise flagging, and also coordinated the movement of parked trains if they were blocking portions of the site.

Utility locates were painted by PNR (for Metrolinx cables), Ledcor (CN cables), and Groma’s public utility subcontractor.

All survey work was tied into the MTM10 NAD83 CSRS coordinate system per Metrolinx standards.

The client was given the survey points list and base plans for all topo and utility locates.
